Statement of Sustainability and Biodiversity

CEC aims to ensure that all the actions and processes undertaken in the course of our work promote the ethos of sustainability and the conservation and enhancement of biodiversity.

Sustainability

CEC assessed the environmental impact of its operations through our in-house Green House Group (GHG) in 2004-5. This exercise produced a baseline picture of where the company stood in terms of:

An Action Plan was subsequently drawn up with targets to reduce impacts.

Monitoring is taking place year-on-year to ensure that CEC is continuing to reduce its environmental footprint wherever possible.

Biodiversity

CEC's core business is the conservation and enhancement of biodiversity. We achieve this through our ecological services, which ensure that a sites biodiversity value is taken account of in the planning stages of projects, and through our landscape services which strive to create new habitats and opportunities for wildlife wherever possible.

We do this by, for example, specifying native species of trees, shrubs and wildflowers, allowing natural regeneration where appropriate, and providing nest boxes for many different species.

CEC's work is underpinned by its relationship with Cornwall Wildlife Trust - all profits are covenanted to the Trust to assist its work in protected the wildlife and wild places of Cornwall.
