The setts within the dumpsites could be closed sequentially allowing badgers to use another of the setts within their territory while work at a particular sett was being undertaken.

Defence Estates have been investigating the five dumpsites for the presence of any toxic substances, which would require remediation. It was necessary to demolish a main sett as part of the investigation work at one of the dumpsites. To mitigate for this loss an artifical sett was created nearby. Badgers have now taken up residence in the artificial sett (photo shows one of the entrances to the artificial sett).
